Australia's red wine superstar is undoubtedly Shiraz. This variety was one of the first to arrive in Australia in the early 19th century with the father of the Australian Wine Industry, James Busby.
The grapes we sourced for the 2006 Shiraz were grown in an area of our vineyard where the summer thunder storms can be seen rolling in from the west, often unleashing spectacular thunder bolts with dramatic effect.
"The spectacular view of the vast Inglewood vineyards as they gently slope toward the Hunter River is matched only by the delight in tasting Two Rivers wines."
Varietal(s): 50% Hunter Valley Shiraz; 50% Orange Shiraz
tasting notes
This wine is medium ruby red in colour and displays lifted berry fruits of mulberry with classic Hunter shiraz spice and soft oak. The palate is medium bodied with ripe sweet fruit flavours and balanced well with integrated savoury oak.
winemaking
The wine spent 24 hours cold soaking on skins. Fermentation was over 7 days held at 18 to 24 degrees. The wine was then matured in selected French and American oak for 12 months.
